What is Windchill WGM?
Windchill Workgroup Manager is a common client application that allows you to manage CAD data generated by many different CAD applications in Windchill.
Typical users of Windchill Workgroup Manager are CAD design engineers who use one or more CAD applications and want to manage the design process in a controlled, collaborative manner within the Windchill environment.

Is Windchill WGM customizable as per the requirements?
Yes, Windchill WGM is customizable as per the customer requirement; wherein PTC Windchill WGM is not customizable.
How does Navisworks WGM work?
Navisworks Workgroup Manager (WGM) is a powerful tool that integrates CAD applications with the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and allows users to manage their CAD data within the Windchill environment. This allows users to perform PDM actions without leaving their CAD application. It supports multiple CAD file formats and save them in windchill in the form of NWD and NWF.
Is WGM able to create the viewable for the Navisworks project?
Yes, WGM creates the viewable for the Navisworks projects. Which can be opened in the Creo viewer.
Did the user need to make any changes to the windchill server for the Navisworks WGM?
No, user did not need to make any changes to the windchill server for the Navisworks WGM.
Is it a single service that is installed to communicate with Windchill?
Yes, Navisworks WGM is a single service that is installed to communicate with Windchill.
If single or multiple services are installed to communicate Windchill, what type of upfront configuration is required?
No additional / special configurations required for Navisworks WGM, configuration like native WGMs is sufficient.
How to add a BIMDeX license to Navisworks WGM?
With Navisworks WGM, customers will get the BIMDeX license manager. Administrator can install the BIMDeX license manager on a license server machine with the srinsoft provided license key. During the client installation, users need to provide the IP and port number of the license server, and the license will be activated.
Is License Manager part of the Navisworks WGM subscription?
The License Manager is just to manage the licenses, and it is part of the Navisworks WGM subscription.
After installation how much maintenance and user interaction are required?
No specific maintenance support is required; periodic vault cleanup is only required.

Did the user need to create any attributes in windchill Type and attribute management?
Only admin needs to create the attribute at the deployment time as per the deployment guide.
How can users register servers in WGM?
To register the Windchill server in WGM, go to the PTC Windchill tab => Server management => Manage Server => Register New server. Now enter the server URL in the Location field with any Name, then check and click OK.
Did user can register multiple servers in WGM?
Yes, users can register for multiple servers in WGM and can switch between them by providing windchill credentials.
How to set registered servers as Primary server in WGM?
To register the windchill server in WGM, go to the PTC Windchill tab => Server management => Manage Server => Set as Primary server.
Does WGM work with custom Lifecycle?
Yes, WGM works with the custom lifecycle.
What are the features of the Navisworks WGM?
Custom PDM tool inside Navisworks for integration with Windchill, including revision management.
Project level meta data information published inside Windchill.
You can save both NWF and NWD.
User can append the NWF or NWD and save in windchill.
Integrated web-based viewer to Windchill with URL for each Navisworks project facilitating viewing of Navisworks projects from Windchill.
A web-based viewer has various functionalities, like navigation, markup, model slicing, querying based on meta data, measurement, view configurations from native software.
Project meta data-based search can be done inside Windchill as well as in the viewer.
It has bulk check-in, Checkout and Undo Checkout options, which will help users to push multiple files into Windchill at one click.
Is there a Bulk check-in feature available with Navisworks WGM?
The Bulk check-in feature allows you to check in multiple CAD files at a time in windchill or do PDM actions on multiple files at one time but this feature is not available with the Navisworks WGM.
Did WGM save the project directly to Windchill or do they need to save locally?
No, the project needs to be saved in the workspace locally, and then it will be saved in windchill.
Are any other storage types or share drive required?
No, any additional storage types or share drive required.
What is the configuration or customization that needs to be done on Windchill Server?
The admin needs to perform below configuration or customization in Windchill Server:
Create soft Type in windchill Type and Attribute Manager
Update Navisworks Configuration file
Is there support available for the WGM client installation and package setup?
Yes, there is a dedicated technical team for the WGM client installation and package setup. We provide both email and call support to our customers.
What are the files and folders within the Release Package?
The Navisworks WGM Release package contains the following folders and files.

How to create an Authoring Application and version for the WGM?
Execute EnumCustomize utility command from the Windchill shell command. After executing the command, the UI for the Enumerated Type Customization Utility will open.
Click Browse and open EPMAuthoringAppTypeRB.RB.ser ($WT_HOME/codebase/wt/epm/)
Click New to add a new record for Authoring application using below inputs,
Display Name: Autodesk Navisworks, Key: NWF, Description: Autodesk Navisworks Application (description to identify), Selectable: Yes, Default Value: No.
Click Save and Click continue to Build.
Click Browse and open wt.epm.EPMDocSubTypeRB.RB.ser ($WT_HOME/codebase/wt/epm/)
Click New to add a new record for EPMDocument subtype using below inputs,
Display Name: Autodesk Navisworks
Key: NWD
Description: Autodesk Navisworks Application (description to identify)
Selectable: Yes
Customized: No
Default Value: No
Click Save then Click Exit. Step 11: Save the Modifications and continue to Build
Did the admin need to create an EPMDocument and WTPart Subtype?
Yes, for the first time the admin needs to create some EPMDocument and WTPart Subtype in Type and Attribute Manager on a Windchill server.
EPMDocument – Navisworks NWF, Navisworks NWD.
How to map attributes or soft types with the Navisworks WGM?
To map the attributes or soft type to windchill follow the below steps.
Navigate to Windchill Server
After that, navigate to the path mentioned below and open NavisConfig.txt
$WT_HOME/codebase/ext/srinsoft/SSTWGM/ NavisConfig.txt
In the NavisConfig.txt, update the Internal Name for EPM Document and Part (at the left of =) same as specified in Type and Attribute Manager as shown in config file, and save it.
How to add a WGM license in BIMDeX license Manager?
Open your license manager
Go to the License management tab.
Click on Add License, browse for the license file and load it into the license manager.
Your license status as loaded, but the number of users will not be reflected.
Now open your application and use it, then the number of licenses will start reflecting.
When license limit exceeds how can we resolve it?
Open your license manager
Go to the user management tab
Delete the user with the old IP.
Now open your application and use it.
Where can we get the license IP and port number?
To get the IP, navigate to the BIMDeX license server and open your BIMDeX license manager and get the server’s name.
To get a port number, navigate to the path below and open RemoteDetails.txt
Path: C:\Program Files\SrinSoft Inc\BIMDeX License service
How to resolve the invalid license issue?
Invalid license issues may be caused due to an incorrect IP or port number.
To verify or correct the WGM License details, navigate the
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Navis_WGM.bundle\Contents\Win64\2023 and open License.xml. Now verify your IP and port with BIMDeX License Manager.
